I shot this high above the village of Haworth in Yorkshire.
The area has been named "Bronteland" for it is where the Bronte sisters lived and wrote their books. The winter weather can change in minutes from sun to blizzard and then to hailstones and again change back suddenly and mysteriously to calm sunny peacefulness with fluffy white clouds floating above in a light-blue sky. And it is not unknown for these changes to occur several times within the space of three hours!! If you go there in winter take cream for chilblains;cream for sunburn; cream for windburn; sunglasses, a torch; a thick fur coat with hood; a short-sleeved tee-shirt and shorts;a pair of light canvas shoes; winter hiking boots; thick socks and thin socks; gloves, a Russian style hat and a straw hat with a large brim to keep the sun off!!!. Better not to use skis: the land has unseen obstacles below the snow line. In fact, better go there in every other season but winter.
